Egypt, the pictures

I'm afraid these are the only images I have from Egypt
the others were on my laptop, which was stolen from my
flat in charming Nunhead before I had placed them online

This was just an interesting view from the porch of the hotel in Hurghada. I didn't end up with many pictures of the resort in Hurghada, as it was nice, but not really picturesque.
Egyptian wildlife! He looks innocent enough, but there was a severed pigeon wing not far from him, and lots of feathers all over the place. One can only conclude he was celebrating a mighty victory when I took this picture.

A random shot from El Gouna - the nicer of the two places we stayed. This was more ocean-focused, and the hotel had a long series of lagoons you could swim in and sunbathe near. Very nice place - the grilled kalimari was excellent.
There was a long narrow pier that lead out to deeper water on the beach in El Gouna. This is just the view from the end of the pier back to land. The walkway was about four feet wide, for scale.

I need to cut this photo down - I was just trying to get a decent picture of the mountains that were always off in the distance while we were in El Gouna. This was the best shot I managed, but it has all that foreground junk that needs removing.
An early sunset picture from El Gouna. I'm not entirely sure why, but the sun seems to set really quickly in Egypt. One minute, it's daylight, and then ten minutes later it's completely dark. They don't get dusk like we do in the UK.

A somewhat cooler sunset photo.
One thing about the resorts was that they went to great lengths to make you forget you were in the desert. While the Hurghada one had grass everywhere, the El Gouna one focused on plants and flowers. Most buildings were practically covered in flowers and vines like this.

Here's a good shot to give an indication of the scale of the El Gouna place. This wasn't entirely our resort - El Gouna has a number of resorts, as well as property for sale. I can think of worse places to have a summer house. Everything with the little bridges was part of the Hilton.
